Connecticut Honors Meek Mill With Key to the State, Declares March 19 'Meek Mill Day

With Meek Mill's The Motivation Tour in full swing, cities and states are lining up to roll out the red carpet treatment for the "Going Bad" rapper. After being honored with his own weekend in his hometown of Philadelphia, Connecticut state officials presented Meek with the key to the state on Tuesday (March 19), and declared March 19 as "Meek Mill Day" throughout the Nutmeg State.

The announcement was made official by Rep. Brandon McGee prior to Meek Mill taking the stage for his Tuesday night (March 19) show at the XFINITY Theater in downtown Hartford. The 30-year-old continues to be commended for his work in the community when it comes to criminal justice reform since his release on bail last April.

Back in January, Meek launched the REFORM Alliance alongside Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin, Jay-Z, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. The initiative is headed by CNN host and political activist Van Jones, and will pursue its main goal of "exonerating wrongly convicted inmates" in an expedited fashion.
