Her breakthrough smash unseats 'Old Town Road' after a record 20 weeks atop each list.
Lizzo scores her first No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as "Truth Hurts" rises from the runner-up rank on the list dated Aug. 31. Her breakout hit dethrones Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, after the song spent 20 weeks at the summit, the longest stay since the chart began in 1958.
"Truth" tops with gains in all three metrics that contribute to the chart: sales, streaming and radio airplay. The track ascends to No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart with 26,000 downloads sold in the week ending Aug. 22, according to Nielsen Music, up 17% from the previous sales week, good for the chart's top Sales Gainer prize.
As with the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, "Truth" displaces "Road" atop the sales list after the latter's unprecedented 20-week command.
