BMW's Hardcore $100k USD, 444 BHP M2 CS Is Finally Here

BMW has officially unveiled the M2 CS for 2019 — a track-inspired sports car that could be the final swansong for the much-loved 2 Series before it’s reworked in the coming years.

The marque’s latest special-edition car features an engine derived from the BMW M4 Competition, fettled with to deliver 444 BHP, 406lb ft of torque and a 0-60 MPH time of four seconds flat if equipped with the optional seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.

BMW’s turbo-powered straight-six M2 CS has a limited top speed of 174 MPH when equipped with the optional Driver’s Pack, and sends all its power to the rear wheels. Developed as a true petrolhead’s car, the CS takes it one step further than the already sought-after M2 Competition with an added 40 BHP along with fine-tuned the handling and precision.

Aesthetically, the BMW M2 CS gets a wider stance and weight-reduced panels in the form of a new hood made from carbon fiber — the roof, mirrors, front and back splitters also get the same lightweight treatment — as well as new rims available in “Jet Black” and “Matte Gold.”

Inside, BMW has continued to reduce the car’s curb weight with M Competition sports seats, a lightweight center console and more. Pricing for the all-new BMW M2 CS starts at €95,000 EUR (approx. $105,000 USD).
