In this interview, Arshan speaks with Atlanta rapper, THOUXANBANFAUNI. Fauni has been releasing music consistently since 2015, first gaining popularity on SoundCloud with songs like “GORGEOUS” and “WHO YOU TESTIN?”. In 2020, he dropped the project CLAIRVOYANCE that features his Black Mayo-produced hit, “ULTRAVIOLET”, which currently has over 42 million plays on Spotify alone. During their conversation, Fauni talks about how he rarely does interviews, discusses his current mental state, his childhood, and moving around Atlanta. They talk about misleading AirBnB listings, the different eras of Fauni’s sound, and Fauni compares his evolution to Kanye West. He then talks about beat selection, how his songs could be mixed better, and listening to SoFaygo, Yeat, and YellaBandana. Fauni acknowledges that he’s seen as an underground legend, but admits he is constantly striving for greater. He agrees with Arshan that being labeled “underground” can be limiting, before discussing whether or not he was blackballed by the music industry. Fauni admits he didn’t realize “ULTRAVIOLET” was his biggest song, and lists the Top 3 songs he’s ever made: “Ultraviolet”, “Wish The Worst”, and “Gorgeous”. He talks about dropping music consistently, jealousy destroying relationships, and his friendship with UnoTheActivist. He then talks about dealing with grief and the things he does to stay positive: donating to those in-need and spending time with family.
